ATRUMPF iLED Wins Prestigious Design Award
Third Award for World’s First and Leading LED Surgical Light

Chicago, IL - The TRUMPF iLED has been named a winner in the world’s oldest and most prestigious design awards competition. The Good Design™ Award, presented by The Chicago Athenaeum: Architecture and Design Museum, bestows international recognition upon designers and manufacturers for advancing new and innovative product concepts and for stretching the envelope beyond what is considered standard product and consumer design. The TRUMPF iLED 5 was a winner in the competition’s Medical design category.

Since being introduced as the world’s first LED Surgical light, more than 2,500 TRUMPF iLED systems have been sold in operating rooms worldwide. In addition to benefits common to all LED technology such as low heat and dramatically long life cycle, the iLED product line offers a combination of benefits not available from any other surgical light. Those benefits include: up to 160,000 Lux of illumination; a superior homogeneous light field; virtually shadow free deep-cavity illumination; and adjustable color temperature (4 settings) providing optimal contrast and satisfying varied surgeon preference. Since introducing the iLED 5, TRUMPF has enhanced the product line with the 3 pod iLED 3 and options including the TRUMPF TruVidia CCD camera and, most recently, the TruVidia HD 5000, the world’s first in-light High Definition camera.

The Good Design Award was created in 1950. In addition to the formal, functional and esthetic quality of the design, judges also consider the level of product innovation, use of new technologies and materials, product concept and construction, and environmental friendliness. All award winners are included in the collection of the Chicago Athenaeum and exhibited internationally. In 2007, nominations from a record setting 33 nations were entered into the competition.

Previously the iLED won the “Best in Show” and “Architect’s Choice” awards in the 2006 Symposium Distinction Awards competition held in conjunction with the 19th Annual “Healthcare Facilities Symposium & Expo”. The highly esteemed Symposium Distinction Awards honor design teams and individuals who have made a profound contribution to the healthcare design industry.
