Bailey Medical Center

Complete Solutions at Work in Oklahoma

Bailey emphasizes values including comfort, convenience and familyWith its lodge-like design, complete with fountains, a two-story fireplace and spacious lobby, Bailey Medical Center is clearly a different breed of healthcare facility. When it opened last year, it placed values including family, comfort, convenience and community at the forefront of its message to the burgeoning city of Owasso, Oklahoma, which it serves. This very personal focus may well have originated with the structure of the organization: Bailey is a physician-owned facility in association with Ardent Health Services. Jon Orjala, DO, Orthopedic Surgeon and one of Bailey’s founding physicians explains, "I became part of Bailey Medical Center because we share an important philosophy of putting patients first."

Selecting the Right Technology

To make sure it would have the most sophisticated technology to care for those patients, Bailey conducted a careful search and evaluation process. This process included site visits to hospitals including Cleveland’s MetroHealth. At MetroHealth, the Bailey team saw how TRUMPF solutions and the parallel processing they had instituted had enabled that facility to reduce non-operative time by more than 30%. The concept of parallel processing allows patients to flow more efficiently through the OR: essentially only surgery takes place in the OR. After seeing these solutions first hand, Bailey selected multiple TRUMPF solutions including TRUMPF JUPITER System Surgical Tables, TRUMPF iLED Surgical Lights, and TRUMPF KREUZER Equipment Booms.

Bailey Medical Center Bailey team members received initial product training at TRUMPF’s corporate headquarters in Charleston, SC. The “Train the Trainer” format allowed Bailey staff to provide additional training to staff members back in Owasso.

iLED Surgical Lights are among the industry-leading TRUMPF technologies found at Bailey Medical CenterFulfilling Its Promise

Now, as Bailey closes in on its first anniversary, staff members are recognizing the benefits offered by the leading-edge technologies the hospital selected. From Booms to Tables to lights, the response has been extremely positive. Dr. Orjala particularly notes the benefits offered by the TRUMPF iLED Surgical Light. “I’ve used all different kinds of lights at the other 20 hospitals I’ve been in,” says Dr. Orjala, “and I think the TRUMPF iLED is a lot easier on the eyes and easy to use. There are no shadows and I can adjust the light to be wide or focused into a spot by using sterile controls that can also change the intensity.” He notes that his colleagues in both general and vascular surgery also use the iLED’s ability to change color temperature to improve contrast and help them differentiate the finer details in tissues.

With advanced technology in place and its staff proving their dedication day in and day out, Bailey Medical Center seems well on its way to fulfilling its mission of becoming the finest hospital in northeast Oklahoma
